Happy 4th of July & American Flowers Week!

Each year the last week of June/first week of July is celebrated as American Flowers week around the nation. The goal of this celebration is to engage in the conversation about the origins of flowers and to promote the local flower farming industry. Around 80% of the nation's flowers are imported from overseas. However, there has been a recent resurgence over the last decade in the number of flower farms in the U.S. and this number is continuing to grow. We are happy to be a part of the growing local floral industry and are thankful for all of the local support for our flowers.

American Flowers Week was created by Debra Prinzing, a wonderful advocate of the local flower movement. Debra has done a lot of work through her website, slowflowers.com, where she helps to connect consumers with seasonal blooms available through flower farmers & florists who source locally from nearby farms. Below is a chart with some fun facts about the floral industry.

This week to celebrate Independence day and American Grown Flowers week we have a variety of arrangements and bouquets that are available for pre-order with pickup from the Milford & Madeira Farmers Markets. You can find more information on what we have available this week on our website at - https://www.traceyraefarmerflorist.com/finding-our-flowers

Thank you for your continued support of our farm and we hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!
